Top Places to Visit in Lincoln

Visit Lincoln Castle
For a bit of culture take a stroll within the walls of Lincoln Castle. It’s sure to give you and your date plenty to talk about – if you’d like to brush up on your history too, then why not take a free guided tour?

The Castle is currently being renovated with new sections being re-opened all the time so check online to see if there are any events happening soon. You don’t have to go far for your lunch either with Wig & Mitre right next door!

Dine at the Wig & Mitre
Between castle and cathedral, on quaint, olde Steep Hill be sure to visit the Wig & Mitre for some truly honest cooking, delicious beer and depending on your company, good conversation - this is a gem not to be missed. They make their very own plum bread too – it’s always good to impress with a fact or two! For dessert, head a little further up the hill to the Ice-Cream Parlor Dennetts. Don’t say we didn’t warn you though, it’s called Steep Hill for a reason!

Brayford BelleLincoln
It doesn’t get much more romantic than boating in the country! You won’t be creating Rose and Jacks iconic momen, but cruising along the canal can give a different perspective to Lincoln and provides an entertaining commentary about Lincoln's past and present!

RAF Waddington Air show
Only once a year, but well worth it! The air show is the largest of all RAF airshows. You’ll have plenty to talk about while watching the flying display by the Red Arrows – and should you be stuck for conversation you can simple pretend you’re enthralled in the action. For an added thrill take a  flying experience - available to visitors along with exhibition hangars, funfairs and a little tamer classic car display.

The Original Lincoln Ghost Walk

Not that we’re condoning you scaring your date but you could be a shoulder to cling to! Complete with a few ghostly stories telling the grisly history of Lincoln the tour has also seen a few celebrities with Tom Hanks's family taking the very same tour when filming at the Cathedral –we wonder if the ghosts were star struck! Cant imagine you spending the night alone after this...

The Strait and Narrow

Located in the cultural quarter we recommend filling up on refreshments at The Strait and Narrow. This fabulous Belgian style beer bar has an English twist – you’ll be spoilt for choice with around 150 different beers to choose from, cocktails, wine, champagnes and Prosecco!

Ellis windmill
Ok, the word ‘windmill’ doesn’t make our tummies do somersaults either or exactly scream ‘excitement and romance,’ but trust us Ellis Windmill is a unique. For starters, it’s a working mill, run by volunteer millers who make and sell flour - it's quaint, romantic and has a beautiful little tea shop serving cakes and english tea from vintage tea pots. If all goes well you could always buy some flour to make pancakes in the morning?!

Lincoln Center

Lincoln center is beautiful and has an abundance of independent shops and boutiques to stroll around hand in hand, arm in arm. Get lost for hours discovering unique gifts and trinkets to remember your day by, ahhhh!
