It's been two weeks since Love Island 2018 finished and I think we're all a little bit gutted. But, short of following them all on Instagram and religiously watching all their Stories, their lives are no longer ours to observe.

Not judging a book by its cover is over. When it comes to dating apps, everyone is making snap judgements in the first few seconds of seeing someone. But what can you do to get those all-important right swipes? Turns out it’s actually relatively simple.



If you’re trying to attract a man, then get yourself to the gym and take a full length mirror selfie. Or if you’re not into gymming, a good alternative is a nice photo in the countryside. If that’s a no go, can you find a dog or a horse to get a picture with? Otherwise, you’ll have to get a tattoo or buy a car to pose with to get the boys swiping right for you.



Take a look at your profile and delete the photos of you with your good looking male friends, apparently men don’t like competition. But remove the ones with your girlfriends too, because they also like to know which is you straight away. Stay well clear of the dreaded filters. Nobody likes a person with dog ears or superimposed hats and glasses. However, just to throw a spanner in the works, a lot of people don’t like seeing cars or pets, so these could go either way for you.



If you’re trying to woo the ladies, the highest swipe success comes from pictures in the countryside. Bonus points if you can include your dog too. If you’ve got tattoos, get em out, if you’ve got a fancy car, get snapping next to it, and if you’ve got a beard, show it off in all its glory. These are all things that get fingers and thumbs swiping to the right.



If you’re fed up of being cast to the left, then remove all evidence of attractive girls in your life. And make it obvious which is you, it could save you an awkward conversation when you meet. Put your shirt back on and stop taking showy-offy gym photos; people want to judge your face, not your abs. And just because things are never that simple; tattoos, cars and beards make people swipe left as well as right. So these are a win some, you lose some situation.



It seems that whether you’re looking for guys or girls, the things to steer clear of in photos are other people, filters and nakedness. Tattoos, cars and beards divide us all, so that decision is up to you. Just make sure you get out into the countryside with a dog, take lots of pictures and watch the matches roll in.
