Including your Music Tastes on your Dating Profile?

Move over Little Mix and 1D, a recent survey has revealed our favourite bands – and you don’t even get a look in!

The survey looked at over 8,000 peoples dating profiles who chose to enter a favourite band and revealed the most popular choice and genres, comparing it against age, gender, location and even income to reveal which bands will make your dating profile more attractive.

The results?

You’ve got to come ready to rock!

From classic rock bands like Queen to The Killers and Kings of Leon, rock and roll topped the dating profile charts! We always knew Bon Jovi couldn’t give love a bad name! (sorry we couldn’t help it!) with them taking the number 1 spot, winning the overall most popular band.

  1. Bon Jovi
  2. Kings Of Leon
  3. Take That
  4. Queen
  5. Foo Fighters
  6. U2
  7. The Killers
  8. Adele
  9. Rihanna
  10. Coldplay

Interestingly, people who wrote any of the artists from the top 10 above received significantly more communication requests - 21% more on average!

Not a fan?

If you don't share these music tastes don’t worry - the study also found that the more interesting and in depth the information is you share, the more interest you'll receive. This doesn't have to be your shoe size, or anything else's size, think things like favourite food or breed of dog – this will make your profile stand out!

Musical tastes

Rock and Pop was by far the most popular genre, with 65% of people displaying it on their profile. R&B a distant second with 8%.
So what about by age? People in their 50s are apparently more likely to like Classical and Country music and the older the members get, the more likely they are to report Jazz as their favourite music too - something to think about in the future!
Rap and Hip-Hop showed a different trend, as it is mainly popular with younger people, and as the age bracket increases so too does the number of hip hop fans.

The male, female divide

Rock dominates the favourite bands genre for both men and women, but when it comes to individuals it seems ladies stay loyal, choosing leading female songstresses including the likes of Pink and Adele while men preferred bands fronted by male musicians.
