Holidays
are coming… holidays are coming… holidays are coming! Like we didn’t realise
that it was two weeks until Christmas?! A time of celebrating with friends and
family, eating our own bodyweight in chocolate and watching rubbish television
until we fall asleep…
It can,
however, be a very intense time of the year, what with the pressure of
entertaining, gift-buying and having little or no money. So, we’ve put together
a few little snowflakes of advice to help you get through the festive
festivities without a mistletoe meltdown, single or not.
Don’t break the bank…
We all
know how miserable January can be once the twinkly lights have been packed
away (badly). But a financial hangover is easily cured by not spending as much
in the first place. Work out a budget (stick to it), cut back on
non-essentials, buy online (shop around for good offers) and know when to stop!
There are plenty of resources online to help fund ‘Christmas 2014’ so get
creative and remember: it’s just one day…
Social media envy…
If you’re
single over Christmas, you may feel like avoiding social media until the New
Year – apart from Flirtify of course! With your entire news feed full of
couples drinking mulled wine at Christmas markets, decorating their homes or
sharing, “My bf buys the best gifts – he knows me so well, lol” posts, it might
be a tad infuriating. But just remember, it may look like something out of Love Actually, but one photo never tells
a full story! Just like or retweet, spread some Christmas cheer and head over
to Flirtify to find your next date… Similarly, if you’re in a relationship, not everyone wants to see your mistletoe
kiss and the side of your face!
It’s OK to not get engaged…
What more
can we say? With more than 25% of blokes getting down on one knee to pop the
question, Christmas + Facebook = A mountain of engagement relationship
statuses! That fuzzy festive feeling might make it seem extra special, but
whenever you get engaged it will be magical (and you won’t have to share it
with everyone else).
Give yourself a break…
It's very easy to forget about yourself and get caught up in the Christmas roller coaster of worrying about others! So, make sure you take time to chill out and recharge those batteries. You don't have to spend hours reflecting on your purpose in life, but indulging in some of your favourite, non-christmassy activities will help it feel a little more normal. If you're dating, make sure you plan some dates that don't involve busy and stressful shops, bars or venues! Dragging your new girlfriend to the work Christmas do is NOT a date...
